Our summer programme (October-April) has teams for all ages and abilities that participate in the Auckland Baseball competition and Baseball New Zealand national tournaments.
Cubs is an introduction to baseball for kids aged 5-7 incorporating basic skill training and fun game play. Sessions are run weekly on weekday evenings. Minor League (10U) is a first experience of "real baseball" on a 60ft diamond - players have their first opportunity to play games of baseball and do all the things MLB stars do - pitch, catch and hit home runs - while being non-competitive to encourage equal participation and promote enjoyment of the game whilst developing the necessary skills. Major League (12U) focuses on developing catching, throwing and hitting skills within a disciplined yet fun setting as players begin to leverage a competitive environment to boost their development and enjoyment. Intermediate League (13U) continues to focus on development and enjoyment as players move up to a diamond with 70ft base paths and a pitching distance of 50ft. Many of our players join as Cubs but new players join every year in each of these grades - as these are all developmental grades, all new players soon learn the skills needed to play the game. Junior League (14U) continues player development on a 56/80 diamond. Senior League (16U) players continue on a full adult sized diamond - this provides a great development level and a pathway to the competitive Big League (19U) grade. Both of these grades are classed as competitive within the Auckland Baseball Association competition. This means all games are scored and game results and statistics are recorded and maintained within Baseball New Zealand's scoring application. Big League (19U) is a competitive grade which serves as preparation for future senior players in the Premier and Premier Reserve grades. The Big League caters for all levels of players with games providing a real test of skill. The NS Knights are our premier squad - the squad participates in the ABA premier and premier reserves competitions as well as competing for national titles at the BNZ club classic. Division 1 teams in 24/25 were the NS Gunners and NS Pride (affiliate). Division 2 teams in 24/25 were the NS Angels and NS Patriots (affiliate) Division 3 teams in 24/25 were the NS Giants and NS Padres. We expect some re-organisation and re-naming of these teams in 25/26 with details TBD.Baseball for ages 5-13 is roughly equally focused on developing baseball skills and having fun. Our 5-13 programme is overseen by youth coaching lead Yuuki Takahashi under our club's head coach Toshiki Nakao and operates mostly out of Albany Domain (see individual team pages for more location details).
Youth baseball for ages 14-16 is focused primarily on the continued development of strong baseball and teamwork skills while both having fun and competing. Our 14-16 programme is overseen by youth coaching lead Yuuki Takahashi under our club's head coach Toshiki Nakao and operates mostly out of Unsworth Reserve.
Adult competitive baseball for players aged 17+ is about reaching and succeeding at the top level of competition available in New Zealand while reflecting that players continue to seek to both develop their game and have fun doing it. Our adult competitive programme is led by coach TBD and operates mostly out of Te Kori Scott Point.
Divisional baseball for players aged 17+ is about competing and having fun at a level of play below the premier and reserves grades. Division 1 is the most competitive Divs grade and each numbered grade below that is more social - there's a Divs grade for you! We offer both club teams and affiliation to self-organising teams. Our Divs programme operates mostly out of Unsworth Reserve and Stafford Park.
