North Shore City Baseball was founded in 2010 to support the growth of baseball on the North Shore of Auckland.
Prior to the founding of the club North Shore baseball players were part of Central City Baseball which was founded by a group of parents from the Central and North of Auckland in 2007. As the player numbers from the North Shore grew Central City Baseball split their teams with players from the North Shore having their own teams within the Central City Baseball Club. The North Shore teams played their home games at Albany Junior High School which was instrumental in supporting the foundations of North Shore City Baseball. As player numbers on the North Shore grew further and more families became involved it was decided to form a new club – North Shore City Baseball – in 2010.
Baseball is a sport that requires a lot of support and the Akroyd, Fegan, Fuse, Greenslade, Lough, Nakao and Takahashi families were instrumental in the formation and growth of the club with parents supporting the new club as coaches, umpires and scorers.
In its first year the club fielded U10 and U12 teams in the Auckland Baseball Association competition. During this time the club was able to get the use of Stafford Park, Albany Domain, and Constellation Reserve.
The first North Shore City player to be recognized for regional representation was Sean Akroyd, who was selected for the 12U Auckland Baseball Association Little League team in 2010 which participated in the Asia-Pacific Qualifying Tournament in Surabaya, Indonesia. Since then many North Shore players have gone on to represent the Auckland Baseball Association at Little League competition and New Zealand in national teams.
